Vacation Bible School
August 22 – 26, 2011
Shake it Up Café

Shake it Up Café  is an open invitation to carry out God’s recipe. Set in the Takeout Treatery, kids will have the opportunity to develop healthful habits as they grow in God’s Word.

Vacation Bible School will be held every morning from August 22nd -26th , 2011 and will include an exciting field trip in the middle of the week. Shake it Up Café invites children from ages 3 to grade six, however all are welcome as many volunteers are needed.

This year’s VBS coordinator is Louise Clunas.  Louise can be reached at lclunas@gmail.com  to answer any questions pertaining to VBS and/or to volunteer your assistance/special talents.

Please consider how you can contribute to this year’s VBS:
  • Volunteer – there’s all sorts of prep work to be done in advance (decorations, putting up posters, making lanyards, etc.) & lots of opportunities required during the week of VBS (registration desk, leaders and helpers for the kitchen, stations, music, games, crafts, classroom escorts, drama/skits, take photos, etc). High school students can accumulate volunteer hours towards their Community Service requirements.
  • Use your St. Ansgar Air Miles reward card. Air Miles are redeemed towards a field trip for our VBS adventures (if possible), but last year’s zoo trip depleted our reserves. There are extra copies in the office if you don’t have a card yet, but would like one. Contact Anna at admin@stansgar.ca for more info. The cards can be used at Metro grocery stores, RONA, Shell gas stations, Purolator, and the LCBO to name a few.
  • Lend or donate items &/or ideas for decorations or crafts. For this year’s theme, we’ll need chef’s hats, chef’s tunics &/or aprons (plain white preferable), large rolls of paper for creating murals &/or to cover craft tables. Watch for an updated list of requirements after the planning meeting.
  • Spread the word to get both young and old to join us – to family, friends, relatives, neighbours. It’s a great way for children starting school in the fall to either transition to a daily routine, or to get back into one after the summer holidays.
  • Join us in the VBS planning meeting Sunday, June 26 at 12:00 noon. This year’s theme music will be playing to get our creative juices flowing re: how to transform the church into the Takeout Treatery, and how to deliver the program, field trip, food, music, etc. Ideas are always welcome if you missed the meeting.
